Made in a real studio. For your real studio.

Piano Skill Set is a growing library of supplemental piano workbooks, the ones a working teacher wished she had, then wrote herself.

THE STORY

You shouldn't have to choose between fun and fundamentals.

As a piano teacher, I want my students to build strong skills. I want them to understand what they're playing, develop solid technique, and have the foundation they need to keep growing.

But I also want them to be excited when I pull out their books.

That's the idea behind Piano Skill Set. I wanted to create books that take the fundamentals seriously without feeling serious to the student. Colorful pages, games, creative activities, and music students actually want to play aren't extras. They're part of what keeps students curious, engaged, and learning.

Each series focuses on a different part of becoming a well-rounded pianist, so teachers can use the books alongside their favorite method and choose what each student needs.

Because strong fundamentals and "Can we do this page today?" absolutely belong in the same book.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Hi, I'm Phoenix.

I'm a pianist, composer, piano teacher, and the creator of Piano Skill Set. I've been teaching piano for more than 20 years, working with students of all ages and levels and running my own private studio.

I'm also The Tattooed Piano Teacher, where I create resources, share teaching ideas, and make videos for piano teachers looking for creative ways to connect with their students. Over the years, what started in my own studio has grown into a community of teachers around the world using my games, activities, sheet music, and teaching resources in their own lessons.

How does Piano Skill Set work?

Made to work with your method

Piano Skill Set is a supplementary series, so you don't have to give up the lesson books you already love. Add Writing, Technique, and Songbooks to build a combination that works for each student.

Skills that stick

New skills are clearly introduced, then revisited and reinforced throughout each level. Students get the time and practice they need to really understand what they're learning instead of seeing it once and moving on.

Ready for what's next

Each level builds on the one before it, with a comprehensive approach that helps prevent important skills from being skipped or glossed over. When it's time to move up, you can feel confident your student has the foundation for the next level.

READY TO TRY THEM IN YOUR STUDIO?

Start with one Writing and one Technique.

Most teachers order a Pre-Reading or Primer pair to test-drive with a single student.
